Amberol Photographic Calendar Competition 2008 - Norwich Proud Overall Winner
AMBEROL invited local authorities to enter images of Amberol hanging baskets, planters, troughs, floral fountains and talking Penguin litter bins being used in villages, towns and cities across the UK in its annual photographic calendar competition.
The 12 top photographs will appear in the special 2009 Amberol Calendar, celebrating 40 years in business providing communities with world class floral containers and litter bins.
Norwich had a roaring success with the balcony baskets on City Hall balcony this summer being voted top place online, the floral design and making up of the baskets was created by Ian Harris of Hockering Nursery and the baskets maintained by City Hall superintendents David, Robert and Wayne, Terry Bane took the picture of the baskets in early September and entered the image with 4 others from Norwich and 8 from Shrewsbury and has won £1000 worth of Amberol products.
Terry said "Thank you to everyone who voted for my photographic images online and putting up with me constantly reminding you to vote, its really nice to have my photographs feature in a calendar especially the Norwich lion and balcony baskets with City Hall celebrating its 70th year and the prizes going to help with community projects and making the environment nicer for all to enjoy"
Terry also had 6 other photographs that will make it into the 2009 calendar along with Norwich's Aboricultural Officer Imogen Mole entry of a photograph of colleague Siobhan O'Neil inside a Green Parrot (Penguin) talking litter bin, Terry, Imogen and Siobhan agreed if any of the photographs won they would ask for a Penguin talking litter bin as a prize in the colours of the flowers to be used at Siobhan's wedding in February 2009 and afterwards to be presented to a Norwich school.
Terry has "Floral Friends" in Shrewsbury who rallied around voting for Norwich and Shrewsbury images in the Amberol competition, to celebrate Norwich's 25 years of "In Bloom" two large square floor standing planters have been donated to sheltered housing schemes and Heart of England neighbourhood entries Edgefield Green and Vine Close for the residents to plant up and continue their excellent horticultural and community spirit.
This is the fourth time Norwich and Terry Bane has been successful in Amberol's photographic calendar competition, Terry's photos have won first place once before and as runner up twice before winning over £2000 worth of hanging baskets and troughs used in many community projects including Colman Hospital Tree of Love hanging basket display and on the entrance railings at The Assembly House.
Many of the Amberol Barrier baskets can be seen across the city of Norwich and are sponsored and some still available to sponsor, if your business would like to sponsor a barrier basket display please contact Terry Bane on 01603 213632 or email terrybane@norwich.gov.uk or visit www.norwichinbloom.co.uk
